About Mark Perlman

Mark Perlman Sculpture

Mark Perlman is represented in hundreds of public and private collections throughout the world. He has received two National Endowment for the Arts personal artist grants, as well as numerous awards throughout the country. In addition to exhibiting with the Bill Lowe Gallery for over ten years, he has had solo exhibitions in Japan and Russia, as well as dozens of galleries throughout the United States.

California painter Mark Perlman's encaustic paintings bear the evidence of their creation - the cycles of generation, destruction, and regeneration: “I have a deep fascination with the processes of change effected by time and nature’s gradual breaking down of form... I attempt to embody life’s processes of covering and discovering the possibilities of our interactions with the natural forces of time,” Perlman explains.

The very nature of encaustic enables Perlman to indulge in both its tactile qualities, as well the inherent open atmospheric qualities attained through many layers. The fields of saturated color complement the unmistakable luminosity and sensuality achieved by Perlman.
