Taylor Means is an artist whose work is in many ways a reflection of his
own life experiences. He grew up in Decatur, Georgia and prior to College,
his experience as an artist existed primarily outside the classroom. Never
afraid of indulging his personal curiosities, he enjoyed a brief career as a
street performer at the age of twelve, traveled through the states by freight
train and never ceased to follow new roads. He credits growing up in a
creative and artistic home as a profound influence to his creative
development. He spent a great deal of time at his father’s woodshop
learning about materials and how they can be put together. He also
regularly went to work with his mother at a fine art giclee company to
hang out with the artists employed there. Means was Waldorf educated, which
he also tributes as an important influence on his creativity and world
perspective. After Graduating from Decatur High School in 2007, Means
moved to Baltimore to attend the Maryland Institute College of Art where
he will graduate in May 2011. He is currently studying Art in Florence, Italy. |
