Thrush Holmes at the Lowe Gallery
Thrush Holmes, born in 1979 in Ontario, Canada, is the quintessential Renaissance man: he paints, sings, writes, and photographs. At the mere age of 19, Thrush Holmes was issued a federal grant to open his first gallery, which eventually legitimized him as a painter and ultimately paved the way for his success in the art community. Unlike many other artists, Holmes actually withdrew early from his studies at the Ontario College of Art and Design to focus his efforts on painting and gallery administration. His initial two-year gallery project was followed by several other ventures, including rotating studio space for emerging fine artists, online galleries, and even a contract to produce and sell 75,000 of his paintings to IKEA. Holmes is business-savvy as well, and has personally organized the sale of hundreds of his own paintings.
