James Havard: Works on Display
Born in 1937 in Galveston, Texas, James Havard has endured an artistic career that has spanned more than four decades. He is critically acclaimed and currently lives in New York. Known for his diverse mastery of technique—from high-brow minimalism in resin to oil and encaustic works—Havard has consistently alluded to indigenous cultures in his work. He has gained a noticeable expertise in his unrestrained use of color and can blend together eras, cultures, media, and techniques to create highly energetic paintings. For almost a half-century, James Havard has exhibited throughout the United States and Europe and has held several solo exhibitions. His work has also been included in the permanent public collections of several prestigious institutions, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Smithsonian in Stockholm, Sweden.
